The Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) offers a grant for workplace charging installations. Businesses can get a 75 per cent contribution up to £350 per connection (up to 40 across all sites) towards the purchase and installation of charging stations for workplaces.
The workplace charging scheme is available to any business. You must have sufficient off-street parking. Whilst you do not need to have electric vehicles as part of your fleet, you will need to express an existing or future need for the business.
The equipment and installation must come from an OLEV approved source. Electric Village is registered with OLEV and we can take you through the process, which will see you receive a voucher that can be redeemed against our final invoice.
HMRC also makes allowances for the capital cost of charging installations.
The allowance scheme was due to expire in 2019 but was extended until 31 March 2023, which is greatly encouraging for businesses investing in charging infrastructure. It provides a 100 per cent first-year allowance on expenditure incurred on new and unused chargepoints.
Innovate UK is a research and innovation arm of the Government, funded by grants. It aims to drive productivity and economic growth by supporting business to develop and realise the potential of new ideas. It has invested around £2.5 billion since 2007, so it's worth keeping an eye out for funded competitions that involve electric vehicles and charging.
Electric Village has had involvement in a number of successful co operations, and is well placed to help you engage with funding opportunities.
